Background
The German Development Cooperation – GIZ, works in the areas of sustainable development and international education. Many of their projects take place in developing countries and support the work of the German government, EU institutions, and the United Nations. One of their main areas of expertise is fighting e-waste. GIZ wanted a documentary film to show at events that will draw attention and give an in-depth look into the problem.
The Approach
We combined existing footage with voiceover, animations, and interviews with industry experts to create an impactful Vox documentary that showcased the problem in an original way. We also wrote the script that explained regulations on e-waste management and discussed the next steps regarding the growing waste stream.
The Result
The film was shown at a number of international events, raising awareness among policymakers about global e-waste challenges. It also made the problem accessible to a broader audience due to its simple explanations, animations and graphics that placed e-waste into perspective.
