European Investment Bank
Background
The European Investment Bank is the European Union’s investment bank, owned by EU Member States. It is also one of the world’s largest financiers of climate action and sustainable projects. In 2019, EIB vowed to end financing of fossil fuel energy projects and committed to align all its financing activities with the goals of the Paris Agreement by the end of 2020. EIB’s commitment meant a total “green” focus for its financing activities in line with the priorities of the EU Green Deal.
To communicate its strong commitment to financing green projects, EIB wanted to dedicate one of its social media channels solely for promoting green initiatives and content that focuses on educating the public about the importance of climate action.
Working closely with EIB, we decided to repurpose their Instagram channel and structure existing content to create a consistent green narrative that will position EIB as the “EU Climate Bank”
The Approach
We came up with a social media strategy that focused on creating a distinct visual identity and utilizing existing content and footage to make Instagram-friendly videos, GIFs, and social cards.
We decided to transform and reshape existing content into engaging structured stories to create a narrative that puts green projects in the spotlight, highlights individuals, and illustrates the impact these projects have on the lives of people and the environment. We also featured content for Instagram Stories and Reels to tell some stories in a much shorter and Instagram-friendly way.
