Background
Philips is a leading technology company and a trailblazer for recycled plastics in electronics. United Nations University is a global UN agency with a specialised division for electronic products and e-waste. They approached us with a challenging task – raise awareness about recycled plastics in electronics, promote the circular economy and prove there is demand for recycled plastics in electronics.
The Approach
We came up with a consumer campaign to increase the demand for recycled plastics in electronics, which are found in only 1% of all electronic products. We decided to raise awareness about the problem by turning the shockingly low percentage into our greatest strength.
We produced a social experiment video shot in the centre of Brussels, which featured consumers and a set of experts who explained why choosing recycled plastics is important.
The Result
The campaign was distributed globally and reached over 10 million media impressions, being featured in over 100 media outlets including BBC, El Mundo, and a number of scientific media.
