BACKGROND

Fertilizers Europe represents the interests of the majority of mineral fertilizer manufacturers in the European Union and communicates on a wide range of topics related to today’s agricultural, environmental and economic challenges. They wanted to communicate the importance of the Nitrogen Use Efficiency Indicator, a solution that helps utilise nitrogen in food production and reduce the negative impact of nitrogen on the environment.

The Approach

We faced the difficult task to communicate a technical issue in an accessible way that educates the audience. To explain the technical concept in an easy and interesting way, we chose to do a short animated explainer video, which narrates the issue.

We came up with a strong hook that draws the viewer right from the beginning by presenting the importance of nitrogen through a different lens, namely the Northern Lights, whose colours are caused by nitrogen. To provide a bit of background about nitrogen use, we featured archival footage to illustrate the history of nitrogen fertilizers and their importance in food production.

The video featured animations and expert interviews that explained the topic in more details and the indicator’s applications to create a video narrative that educates and moves decision-makers to act on the issue.

Along with the video, we also created a dissemination strategy with visuals and copy based on the video and the client’s brand identity.

The Result

We produced a high-quality engaging video that educates and interests the viewers. The video was shown during a major association event and was further distributed online through the association’s social media channels.
