Background

PolyCE is a consortium of 20 expert organisations including Philips, Whirlpool, UN University, and UNITAR. They all work together to reduce the use of virgin plastics and promote the use of recycled plastics in new electronic products.

To reach their goal, PolyCE created comprehensive guidelines on design FOR and FROM recycling aimed at designers of electronic products to promote sustainable design.

As an extension of the previous consumer campaign Choose Recycled that Savion Ray created, we also managed the launch of the guidelines and the event run-up communication.

The Approach

We created a social media strategy that aimed to promote the online launch and maximise registration by using event teasers, speakers’ introduction cards, and visual cards with top tips from the guidelines. We also aligned and coordinated communication efforts with all project stakeholders to reach maximum impact and influencer engagement.

The Result

The launch of the guidelines was a major success with over 1000 registrations, more than half of them being designers of electronic products – our exact target group. The guidelines were introduced by Frans Timmermans, the Executive Vice President of the European Commission, which attracted further attention to the event.
