Promoting sustainable, carbon-free cities in the developing world
The City Climate Finance Gap Fund is a new partnership between the World Bank and the European Investment Bank along with several other key partners. It aims to fund infrastructure development for low-carbon, climate-resilient cities in developing and emerging countries. The fund’s purpose is to bridge the urban financing gap by supporting cities and local governments to realize their climate-smart urbanization projects.
Savion Ray was tasked to create a campaign that financially supports cities to reach their climate goals. Working closely with EIB, Savion Ray created a social media campaign, which aimed to highlight the climate-resilient transformation of cities and the positive impact of the Fund. The campaign focused on energy transition, green transport, waste management, and the renovation wave – all part of the EU Green Deal.
We supported communication efforts around the launch and coordinated the organised outreach of all 10 partners to manage the digital engagement of the global event around the UNGA Climate Week. The campaign included content creation, community management, engagement drivers on Twitter and Instagram, and event analytics.
The campaign was rolled out by the partners on major digital platforms where mayors and local administration were introduced to the initiative and incentivised to take part in it. The project is on-going and has already approved two rounds of support for cities.
